Yōkai! Open Tables is live in beta on our Discord server, which means you can create a character, join a table, and play Yōkai! online with us.
Yōkai! is a tabletop role-playing game where you play supernatural beings from Japanese folklore in modern-day Japan. The game mixes folklore, strange encounters, urban life, humor, and danger, with plenty of room for the kind of trouble a group of yōkai tends to create.
Open Tables gives you a direct way to bring that game online.
A Full Yōkai! Game Inside Discord
We built the Discord experience so you can get into a session without memorizing the rulebook or stopping to chase calculations.
The system handles rolls, character values, encounters, powers, items, antagonists, and other mechanics from the full Yōkai! rulebook while you play.
You make the decisions. The platform keeps the numbers moving.
How to Join an Open Table
- Build your yōkai. Create your character with the official Yōkai! Character Builder.
- Get your import code. Use it to bring your finished character into the Open Tables interface.
- Join the Discord server. That is where Open Tables are hosted.
- Find a game. Browse available tables and apply to join one.
Create Your Yōkai, Then Bring It to the Table
The quickest way in starts with our official Yōkai! Character Builder.
Create your character online and choose your options. When your character is ready, the builder gives you an import code. Use that code when you join an Open Table to bring your character straight into the table interface.
Your character arrives ready to play, without rebuilding the sheet or copying everything by hand.
Want to Run a Game?
Open Tables are hosted by our Sensei, the Yōkai! equivalent of the Game Master.
During the beta, VIP members can apply to become Sensei on our Discord server. Once approved, they can create their own tables, invite players, explore the system, and start running Yōkai! sessions.
If you want to play, browse the available tables and apply to join a game. If a table allows spectators, you can also drop in and watch a session.
